Inverness and Loch Ness Private Day Tour
About The Tour
Experience what Inverness has to offer and a circular tour of Loch Ness. Visit Urquhart Castle and do some monster spotting!
Some Highlights in Inverness:
- The Old High Graveyard: After the battle of Culloden, Jacobite soldiers were stood against the west wall and executed. The musket ball marks can still be seen to this day. Interestingly, next to the church is Leakys bookshop, where in 1746 whilst the Jacobite soldiers were being shot, the Government soldiers were being treated for their injuries.
- Abertarff House: A visit to the oldest house in Inverness, Abertarff House, is an important example of 16th century domestic architecture. No power showers back then!
- Victorian Market: Recently refurbished in 2022, this 19th century covered market offers an abundance of individually owned shops and cafes. A great place to pick up some souvenirs.
- Culloden Battlefield: The last battle to be fought on British soil on 16th April 1746. This was the final, disastrous attempt by Bonnie Prince Charlie to regain power by putting the the Stuart’s back on the throne.
- Clava Cairns: Bronze Age Burial Chambers, 4000 years old, older than the Pyramids.
- Loch Ness: This body of fresh water contains more than the whole of England and Wales combined. Not forgetting Nessie.
